You Have Options...

what's best for you

Find out the best option for your application based on time, budget and ease.

If you are eligible to claim your Italian citizenship (congrats!) the first thing you need to do is decide how you'll apply as there are several ways  depending on your bloodline.

Contrary to many beliefs, you do NOT need to exhaust the male line first. If you have a both the male and female line available, you can choose any option you like.

Step One:  Choose How You'll Apply

You have three options to apply if your ancestor is Male or, if she is Female before 1948.

1.     Directly through your local Italian Consulate
2.     No Appointment Case (only if the ancestor naturalized after the next in line was over 21 years of age)
3.     Directly in Italy through a Fast Track

Male Italian Ancestor

option one

If your line starts with a female Italian ancestor, and she had to pass her citizenship forward before the next in line was 21 years old, you only have one option:

1) 1948 Case Petition

If your Female ancestor naturalized while the next in line was under 21 years of age, it is not likely possible to claim your citizenship. If you think there is a possibility, please email us here to explain and we can advise if there is a chance.

Female Italian Ancestor

option two

Deciding on your options can depend on your budget, the number of applicants, the timeline, ease of application and how much work you want to do on your own.

Below is a quick overview of each process to help you decide.
